CHINCHILLAS and degus

So, you are looking for a pet that can live more than just a few years?  You have the dedication for 20+ years of being a slave to some fuzzy little balls of energy?  Then let us help you decide if Chinchillas are just what you are looking for!

Or perhaps you are looking for a couple of Goo's!  They can be a ton of fun and live longer than gerbils!

If you are just visiting to take a look at pictures please feel free to enjoy!  If you have questions, please ask using the link on our CONTACT US page, email us at myhopesinyou@yahoo.com, or call us at (845) 527-8033.

If you are looking to introduce a Chin to your lone Chin, or adopt a pair (or more...), please consider allowing us to assist you!   We strive to make your adoption experience an enjoyable one.  We will not allow you to leave until you are confident with handling and caring for your newest pets!

First we will have you complete and email us your application (link to pdf file for application found below).  Please be specific on page 2!  We will process your application within 24-48 hours.  Once approved,  we will invite you to schedule a visit to meet our single, pairs or groups of chinchillas that best suit your family's specific situation. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY SUPPLIES UNTIL YOU MEET/TALK WITH US!  There are many items out there that we do not recommend for your safety and the safety of your newest family member.  To avoid frustrating returns please ask before you purchase an item.  Remember, we are here to make sure your bond starts here, but continues at home!

We're honored to assist you in this memorable experience!

Adoptable Chinchillas

These Chinchillas are ready to find their forever families!

Chilly

Chilly is a standard grey, neutered male chinchilla, who came to us after a college student realized she was not able to properly care for him.

Quinn

Quinn came back to us after having a home for several years.  Sadly his mom contracted COVID and had a seizure that left her partially paralyzed and unable to care for her babies.

Elliot

This 7 year old guy is in his prime!  He was brought to us as his family developed allergies to him.  Devastated they brought him to us so that we could neuter him and now find him a family that can fully enjoy him.

Elderly or Special needs

These little ones are elderly or have special needs and looking for a home to cater to them for the rest of their days.

Pierce

This 17 year young guy is ready to take on the world!  Covid may have taken away his human mom, and age his sight, but he still loves his pillows and his little stuffy chinchilla friend.  Vet says he is in good health but requires an elderly friendly cage.

Chinchillas requiring sponsorship

These babies have either chronic medical issues or require surgery.

"Frost Valley Chinchillas"

We are currently caring for 15 chinchillas with various medical conditions due to a severe neglect/hoarding case.  These babies were kept in 5 and 10 gallon tanks and literally had no idea how to use a ledge.  They are slowly learning the way of the chinchillas, but the road has been rough.  Several have heart conditions, upper respiratory and severe eye infections.

"The Bronx Chins"

4 adult males, 2 adult females and 2 baby chinchillas came to us with little to no hair - they were all severely underweight and informed that several had passed before they were picked up.

We brought them to our vet the next day and they all have ringworm.  They will be on medication for 6 weeks, then they will be spayed/neutered and available for adoption.

We are looking for assistance in their care while they are being treated (food, dustbaths, wheels) and spay/neuter funding when they are re

Did you know chinchillas can live over 20 years?
